These are my first “outside the shirt” tattoos, one on each forearm, just below the elbow crease.
Because this Latin is shot with camera-phone quality, I’ll translate for you. On the right, it says “faith and/therefore family” and on the left, it says “family therefore faith”, and those are oak leaves and acorns, for the dendrochronologically challenged.
Divine Machine is on Elmwood, just south of Allen. divinemachinetattoo.com
But if I were shopping for myself… I would get one (or more) of the cool bicycling posters I found on this web site:
I sometimes look at other’s photos
especially photos of people I know
and I see something in their eyes
sometimes I see an expression there, an uncommon look
either uncertainty or nervousness or weakness
and I think they must not like that photo
because it puts them in that unusual space
something that’s them, but not them
but then maybe they don’t see what I see
maybe they look at their own picture, and it’s okay
for my own self portraits, I try to get it right
to show what’s inside as well as I can with a two-dimensional representation
in this photo, the color is wrong
but the rest of it is right: this is how I feel
this is: me
I had to try out a bubble-wrap self portrait since I had a bunch of bubble wrap on my desk.
If you sort of blur your eyes out of focus, doesn’t it remind you of a portrait by Chuck Close?
Not really, but sort of.
